(July 23, 2010) -- The good news: Anson's unemployment rate dropped .1% in June -- to 13.4%.

(July 23, 2010) -- On July 22, Ansonian Preston A. Burns was honored by the Wadesboro Rotary Club, Town of Wadesboro and the County of Anson. He was recognized for his 71 years as a Rotarian.

Shellee Ann's held a ribbon-cutting ceremony as part of the uptown Wadesboro boutique's grand opening festivities on July 9. The store, located in the historic business district at 115 S. Greene St., offers an array of jewelry, clothing and accessories, sunglasses, Rainbow sandals and flip-flops, and handbags. The boutique is open from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday. New Ventures Business Development Updates
The Jesse Helms Center in Wingate recently hosted a 'Strive and Thrive in a Recession' seminar. A video is available for viewing at www.nvbdi.org. Local photographer Thomas Cureton has taken photos of work created by local artists and artisans that can be viewed at www.ebizanson.org. These items may be purchased on line. New Ventures has purchased photography equipment and set up a studio in one of its offices at the Lockhart-Taylor Center in Wadesboro. For a small fee, NVBDI will make product photos for businesses or make the equipment available for businesses to make their own digital photos.
