The change has arrived.
THE ELECTIONS AFTERMATH
- The race for the White House is over. All together now … Whew!
North Carolina Winners: Perdue. Hagan. Kissell. Purcell. Gibson. Wallace and Bridges.
North Carolina Losers: McCrory. Dole. Hayes. Abernathy. Barker. Collini.
Anson County Losers: Anson County Courthouse. Anson County school facilities. South Piedmont Community College facilities. (The one-fourth-cent sales tax referendum – that would have raised an estimated $300,000 per year for building maintenance and upgrades – failed by a 1,623-vote margin – 5,176 against the referendum; 3,553 for the sales tax increase.)
A total of 10,360 Ansonians voted for either the Obama-Biden or the McCain-Palin ticket.
A stirring acceptance speech by Barrack Obama before thousands of people gathered in Chicago. In a time of need and depression, Obama rallied Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike. Well, most of us.
History is carved into the United States of America annals. The first African-American is elected president.
No more pre-empting prime-time shows, such as NCIS, The Mentalist, Without a Trace, Criminal Minds, CSI: New York, etal, for a presidential or vice presidential debate or elections night results.
Favorite networks for elections night coverage: ABC and FOX. The worst network: CBS (because Bob Schieffer kept dissing Sarah Palin, referring to her interview with Katie Couric).
In the next few days, all those campaign signs will be gone from the roadside, street curb and yards. The ragged tents are an eyesore on The Square in uptown Wadesboro and must go – soon.
In the opening paragraph to this webcolumn, can you spot the nomenclature change?
